Passengers include 16 people from southern Sudan, two Chinese citizens and an Indian person.
At least 20 people have been killed in a plane crash in northern South Sudan, said Unity State Information Minister.
The plane fell near the oil fields in Unity State around 10:30 am (08:30 GMT) shortly after taking off the capital, Juba, Wednesday.
“The plane crashed 500 meters from the airport … 21 people were on board. For now, there is only one survivor, ”Gatwech Bipal told the AFP news agency.
All passengers, 16 Sudanese from the South, two Chinese and 1 Indian citizens, are employees of the Greater Pioneer Operational Company (GPOC).
Bipal added that the plane was in a routine mission to the area.
Previously, Radio Miraya of the United Nations reported that the pilot and the co -pilot were among those killed.
The images shared on social networks showed the wrinkled plane upside down in a field, the debris extended by the area.
Aircraft overload is common in South Sudan, and it was believed that it contributed to the 2015 accident of an Antonov plane in Juba that killed 36 people.
In 2021, five people were killed after a cargo plane that transported fuel for the UN World Food Program crashed near Juba.
