Shifting their focus towards the January transfer window, Leeds United are now reportedly planning a move to sign a Premier League defender on loan in the hope of boosting their promotion chances.
Leeds transfer news
As the winter window approaches, the Whites could be an interesting team to watch on both the inbound and outbound front, with players like Pascal Struijk attracting plenty of interest. The impressive defender has reportedly even entered the radar of Tottenham Hotspur, who are in desperate need of defensive reinforcement.
However, Elland Road should be keen to avoid another exit after a talent exodus in the summer saw Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter swap Yorkshire for the Premier League.
With his sights set firmly on promotion at the second stage of the application, any departure at this stage would be a bit premature. Leeds should instead focus their attention on players who could make a decisive impact in the race to secure an automatic Premier League place in the second half of the campaign.
Speaking of possible arrivals in January, the Leeds coach Daniel Wake He told reporters as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Even when there is interest, we have calmed everything down. We are in a crucial period and we want all our players to focus on us right now. “We want the entire squad to be focused on these next five games.”

Leeds can sell the worst finisher in Europe by signing the “phenomenal” target
Leeds United have a player with the worst finishing record in Europe since his debut for the club.
That said, according to John Percy of The Telegraph, Leeds are now planning a January move to sign Andrew Omobamidele loaned from Nottingham Forest in January in a deal that would boost Farke’s defensive options.
The 22-year-old has struggled for playing time in the Premier League this season – failing to make a single appearance – and desperately needs to get away from the City Ground in January.
Omobamidele “compound” needs moving in January
Completing his move from Norwich City in the summer of 2023, things are yet to take off for Omobamidele at Nottingham Forest after such an impressive breakthrough at Carrow Road. And while Nuno Espirito Santo’s team threatens to become a striking European team, they are likely to face more problems than ever for game time in the Midlands.
However, that is where Leeds could come in. Los Blancos could add the young centre-back to their ranks and instantly welcome the key squad needed to gain promotion to the top flight. When it comes to minutes, the fast-paced Championship action should certainly offer Omobamidele enough opportunities to impress if he completes a move in January.
The Forest defender will be desperate to get back to his best after earning praise from his former Norwich teammate. Grant Hanleywho told reporters via the Irish Examiner when Omobamidele was breaking ranks: “He better not get used to that because it’s not like that every week in the Championship, as we know!
“He has been outstanding in the last two games, as composed as a young man who arrives in the first team ready to take advantage of his opportunity. “He deserves a lot of credit for that.”
