David Moyes ‘Proud’ to direct 700 Premier League games

The Everton coach David Moyes says he is proud to be able to direct his 700 party in the Premier League.

Now in his second stage as a technician of Everton, Moyes has also directed teams such as West Ham, Manchester United and Sunderland in the highest category of England during a successful race.

It will join the elite group of coaches who have achieved this feat, along with Usene Wenger (828 games with Arsenal) and Sir Alex Ferguson (810 games with Manchester United).

“It’s really incredible,” said Moyes. “When you start, I think you never think you will become coach of the Premier League, but having 700 games behind my back is a fair achievement.

“I am very happy. There are two great coaches ahead of me: Usene and Alex. I don’t think I get to your numbers, that’s safe. ”

In the clash of the Premier League this weekend between Everton and Brighton, Moyes, the oldest coach of the League with 61 years, will face Fabian Hurzeler of Brighton, the youngest with 31 years.

The occasion marks a change of roles for Moyes, who was the youngest coach of the Premier League when he first assumed Everton’s command in 2002.

At that time, the late Sir Bobby Robson, 30 years older than him, was the largest in the League.

“I remember that Sir Bobby gave me some wise words,” Moyes added. “It is surprising how things have changed and I have been lucky enough to have opportunities in great clubs.”

The 3-2 Everton’s recent victory over Tottenham gave Moyes his first victory since he returned to Goodison Park and left the club four points in the descent.

However, the midfielder Dwight McNeil is expected to undergo knee surgery, which will leave him out of play after the last seven games will be lost.

“He (McNeil) will probably have to undergo knee surgery,” Moyes confirmed. “It is a real blow because we need it back for the ball plays, shipments and their game in general.”
